On this Ethical Edit we’re featuring Jamie Miller from The Hair Parlour Kansas City.  Jamie is the mastermind behind The Hair Parlour, a local hair salon in the Crossroads district of downtown KC. Her salon is located in the Bauer Machine Works building, which is a hub for tons of local artists and makers (which we love, of course!) These girls really know what their doing with hair, beauty and business, so if you haven’t been, we highly recommend it. We had Jamie come in the shop to pick a few of her favorites, read on to see what she picked!

Ethical Edit finds with Jamie Miller

Starting on the left side of this photo, Jamie picked one of our bath towels from Creative Women. These gorgeous Ethiopian handwoven towels come in tons of patterns and colors, are incredibly soft, and a perfect lightweight towel for the summer season.

Next, Jamie picked The Vegetable Butcher by Cara Mangini. This cookbook is all about how to properly slice and cook vegetables. Such a perfect book for vegetarians or even those who just want to venture beyond steamed veggies.

Right below that, her next pick is a couple of yarn bombed horseshoes made by Marley & Alfie. This Los Angeles artist makes these beautiful colorful wrapped horseshoes that make the perfect good luck gift for anyone. (Weddings, new babies, graduation, moving homes…so many occasions!) Jamie picked the ‘Pink Ombre’ and the ‘San Clemente.’ Coincidentally, Jamie and her family often visit San Clemente in California so definitely a perfect fit for her!

Moving to the right, Jamie’s next pick is this cactus print from Wilder California. This Etsy based shop is filled with stunning photographs of all the dreamiest desert scenes.

Above that, she picked a set of wood and gold cheese knives from Be Home. This is a store favorite as well, because really, how can you go wrong with wood and gold?

Next, Jamie picked this perfect white ceramic mug from Hawkins New York. This company specializes in contemporary handmade collections from tableware to bedding.

To the right of that, her next pick is this ceramic trivet made by Convivial Productions right here in KC! This local ceramics company makes beautiful planters and tableware right here in the West Bottoms in Kansas City. We carry some of their hanging planters here in the shop!

Jamie’s next pick is one of our woven leather chairs from Masaya & Co. This company is a partnership between two designers and a Nicaraguan based sustainable forestry company that has been planting hardwood trees since 2007. All of their products are made with solid tropical hardwood frames and then wrapped in hand cut natural leather.

And lastly, Jamie chose one of our pillows from Shupaca Alpaca. These bright beauties come in a variety of colors and are made from vintage textiles!
