On this New Normal post we’re talking Turkish rugs! This trend has been around for a while, but we’ve seen it really explode in the last year or so. These vintage beauties aren’t the easiest to find either. They come in so many different patterns, colors, sizes and so on, but to find the perfect Turkish rug definitely takes some time. We’re here to share some advice that we’ve found to help you track down and style the Turkish rug of your dreams!
The rug in the photo above just pulls the room together. That is what’s so great about these…you can keep it basic and neutral throughout the room, but you just add a beautiful vintage rug and it adds just enough interest and color to make any room feel complete. Turkish rugs can get pricy though, especially if you’re looking at larger sizes.
We think the three best ways to find a Turkish rug at a good price are: Etsy, Ebay and Instagram. With Etsy, there are tons of shops that carry all things Turkish; rugs, pillows, throws, fabrics…anything. Ebay is great for getting a really good price on a larger size rug. Interior designer, Jenny Komenda, wrote a post on her blog, Little Green Notebook, about exactly how she searches for her vintage Turkish rugs. And lastly, Instagram is great for the simple fact that you can follow tons of people that buy and sell beautiful collections of rugs on their Insta accounts.
The rug pictured above is one that we currently have here at the shop! We found it from a Turkish vendor at Brimfield Antique Show in Massachusetts.
We love how Amber Interiors styled this bright pop of color in this bedroom!
We also love a more mutedTurkish rugs like this one that we had in the shop awhile back. It’s muted blue color scheme is beautiful and it goes with just about anything!
Turkish runners are a great piece to incorporate in bathrooms and kitchens, like the ones pictured above.
Rugs can either make or break a space and we don’t see this Turkish rug trend going anywhere soon, so take our advice and begin your hunt for one of these vintage beauties!
